Binding of oligomeric proteins or enzymes with their ligands depends on the interaction between individual subunits. Binding of a ligand to one subunit may affect the binding of a ligand to neighboring subunit. This kind of cooperative phenomenon is measured empirical by Archibald Hill 1910 and he came up with rational formula for the measurement of cooperativity and that is equation is REFERRED AS hill equation. Hill equation refers to overall measurement of percentage of ligands bound to a protein. Hill equation is useful in measuring the degree of cooperativity and the percentage of ligands bound to a protein. Hill equation is helpful in measuring the percentage of O2 molecules bound a hemoglobin molecule or percentage of ligands bound to allosteric enzymes. • Watch my video on enzyme kinetics (Michaelis Menten equation) • • Enzyme Kinetics (Km and Vmax) - Part 1 • Watch my video on oxygen dissociation curve • • Oxygen Dissociation Curve • For REGULAR UPDATES you can consider SUBSCRIBING to this channel: https://goo.gl/eMs6rw • For short write up of theory on USMLE Biochemistry and other topics on food and nutrition, obesity, weight loss tips you may visit my site: • http://www.drmungli.com/ • You can follow my Facebook page Biochemistry Made Easy: https://goo.gl/23S9Y7 • checkout other awesome channels to learn biochemistry and other subjects from: • ThePenguineProf: https://goo.gl/ySNURB • Osmosis: https://goo.gl/d1zBs1 • Armando: https://goo.gl/jcYwwR • Khan Academy: https://goo.gl/7YmIf9 • Nucleus Medical Media: https://goo.gl/xdlqsr • Trending medical youtube channels: https://goo.gl/nUuJOL • 20 useful sites for medical students: https://goo.gl/aPnc19 • Biochemistry single line questions site: https://goo.gl/PFCewk
