Challah Bread is one of the best breads! Simple to make with an amazing flavor! Once you try this 6 braided challah, you'll be making it over and over again. • Challah Bread • Ingredients: • 3 ½ Cups AP Flour (500 grams) • 1 tsp kosher salt (8 grams) • 1 ½ tsp Instant Yeast (7 grams) • 1/3 Cup Sugar (70 grams) • 3 Large Eggs (135 grams) • ¼ Cup Oil (60 grams) • ½ Cup+2Tbps Warm Water (150 grams) • Preparation: • Mix together the flour, salt, yeast and sugar and set aside. In a separate bowl mix the eggs, oil and water. Combine the dry and wet ingredients, using a whisk and then a spatula. Once all the flour is added, transfer the dough onto the work surface and knead for 8-12 minutes, or until the dough bounces back when pressed. Transfer the dough into an oiled bowl and cover tightly with a plastic wrap. Let the dough proof either in the oven with the oven light on for 1.5-2 hours or in any draft free space. After 1.5-2 hours, divide the dough into 6 equal pieces. Shape the pieces into buns, cover with a clean kitchen towel and let them rest for 10-20 minutes. Now, stretch each piece into a long oval using a rolling pin. Once stretched, roll the strand up and then using your finger roll and elongate the strand, making sure to taper it at the ends. Repeat the same process for all 6 strands. • Attach the strands at the top by squeezing them together and then start braiding by placing the outer left strand to the right and then outer left strand to the left. Now place the outer right strand to the middle. Now left bottom strand goes to the right and then left outer strand goes to the middle. Right strand goes to the left and the right outer strand goes to the middle. Repeat the pattern until you reach the end of the dough and then squeeze it together and tuck the dough underneath. Do the on each end of the braid and then place it onto a baking tray. Prepare and eggwash with 1 egg and 1 Tbsp water and brush the braid with egg wash. Cover the braid with plastic wrap and let it rest and proof at room temperature for 1.5 hours. After 1.5 hours, preheat the oven to 350 °F (177 °C). Once the oven is ready, gently brush the braid with the eggwash one more time and then bake for 35 minutes, or until a thermometer reads 190 °F (88 °C).
