(18 Jun 1999) English/Nat • • NATO peacekeeping troops in Kosovo have carried out only their second cross-unit patrol of villages in the American sector of the province. • • American airborne soldiers from Fort Bragg teamed up with the army helicopter unit based in Germany to patrol the villages on Thursday. • • And they seemed to receive a warm welcome from the locals. • • The 82nd airborne division heads into the American sector of Kosovo by helicopter. • • They have teamed up with the army helicopter unit for only the second cross-unit patrol of NATO peacekeeping troops in the province. • • From the air, the damage wrought by the conflict in this area is clear to see. • • Once on the ground, the business of patrolling the American sector begins. • • As the soldiers entered one village, they received a warm welcome, with residents lining their path and eagerly shaking their hands. • • One soldier described how it felt to be in Kosovo. • • UPSOUND: (English) • (Q So how does it feel doing this?)
