It’s caught me very spooky trout in the Mountain Kingdom of Lesotho, fat pre-spawning trout in still waters, and even massive Yellowfish in the Kalahari. • Quick Look • Difficulty Level: Easy • Tying Time: 3 - 5 Minutes • Materials: Scud hook, Bead (optional), red thread, red marabou, red flash (optional), ribbing wire, peacock herl, and head cement • Hook Size: 8 – 16 • Tools Needed to Tie A Bloodworm Larva • Vise • Short blade scissors • Bobbin holder • Whip finishing tool • Bloodworm Larvae Fly Recipe: • Hook: Scud hook in size 10 • Bead (optional): Black 3mm countersunk tungsten bead • Thread: UTC 70 Denier red • Tail: Red marabou • Flash (optional): Red flashabou • Body: Red thread • Ribbing: Black UTC Ultra Wire • Thorax: Peacock herl • Head cement: Loon Outdoors Water Based Head Cement • How to Tie A Bloodworm Larva • Step 1: Place the bead onto the hook (3:11) • Step 2: Secure the hook in the vise (3:24) • Step 3: Lock the thread in place (3:43) • Step 4: Lock the bead in place (3:59) • Step 5: Lay a thread foundation (4:30) • Step 6: Tie in the marabou tail (6:15) • Step 7: Create The Body (6:32) • Step 8: Tear Off The Tail To Length (7:36) • Step 9: Add flash to the tail (8:22) • Step 10: Cut The Flash To Length (8:59) • Step 11: Tie in the Ribbing Wire (9:28) • Step 12: Finalize The Thread Abdomen (10:03) • Step 13: Rib the abdomen (11:04) • Step 14: Tie in The Peacock Herl (11:51) • Step 15: Create peacock herl thorax (12:15) • Step 16: Whip finish the fly (12:49) • Step 17: Apply head cement (13:06) • That's How to Tie A Bloodworm Larva • I hope that you enjoyed learning to tie this variation of a bloodworm larva.
