The facial disc of this Long-eared Owl acts as a sound collector and as the feathers of the facial disc expand outwards - it takes in sounds to its ears on the side of the head - like an ear trumpet. • The tufts on the top of their heads are not ears, but just tufts of display feathers. • These Owls are the rarest and hardest to find in the U.K. so to be able to film them in full screen (zoomed from distance) was wonderful. • #shorts #owls #birds
