Cook over hot water until mixture begins to thicken, stirring constantly. Cool. Store in covered jar in refrigerator. Makes 1/3c • For Cole Slaw: Just before serving dinner, toss 1 1/2 finely chopped or shredded cabbage with 1/3c Creamy Boiled Dressing. • • SPICY PUMPKIN CUSTARD (pg 28) • 1/2c mashed cooked or canned pumpkin • 1/4tsp salt • 1/3c evaporated milk • 1 egg yolk • 2 1/2Tbsp granulated sugar • 1 1/2tsp butter • 1/4tsp cinnamon • a pinch each of ginger, nutmeg, and cloves • Heat oven to 350. Blend all ingredients together with rotary beater. Pour into 2 custard cubs. Place in pan of water 1 deep. Bake 45 minutes, or until knife inserted 1 from edge of custard cup comes out clean. Cool at least 20 minutes. • HAMBURGER PIE • 2Tbsp chopped onion • 1Tbsp shortening or oil • 1/2lb ground beef • 1/4tsp salt • 1/8tsp pepper • 1/4tsp MSG • 1 cup cut green beans, drained • 1/2 of a 10.5oz can of tomato soup • 1c mashed potatoes (fresh, leftover, or instant) • paprika • Heat oven to 350. Cook onion in hot fat until softened; add meat and cook until brown. Add seasonings, beans, and soup. Pour into a 1 quart baking dish. Spoon mashed potatoes over mixture. Sprinkle with paprika. Bake 30 minutes.
