58 Precision Sound Sample 2

This is one of three short “sound samples” I did with brother-in-law’s ’58 Fender Precision bass. • It’s funny, but 95% of the time I’m playing the bass, I’m either learning a new cover song or playing along with one. I don’t spend much time just noodling on my own these days and it felt a bit awkward doing it. • When Bob asked me to do a little demo, I really wasn’t sure what I was going to play. • I found a few drum beats on YouTube and decided to play through a couple of riffs that I’ve been playing since……forever. One is a little blues based thing that I thought would highlight the bass’s tone. The second is a bit of a “prog-ish” riff that was on it’s way to becoming a Crisis song before we split up. And the final one is a bit more upper register and chordy. • These are the riffs that I’d normally run through when trying out a new bass and give me a good indication of how the bass feels and sounds.
