I can say what I feel and it's the best day of my life. • SUPER CAPTION: Alessandra Mussolini, Italian parliamentary deputy and granddaughter of Benito Mussolini. • • Then the mother had to forge her way through the photographers, a taste of the attention she can expect to receive, if only because of her name. • • Inside the church the child was baptised in a traditional Roman Catholic rite. • • The baby was dressed in an embroidered bonnet and white dress made in 1927 by the dictator's wife Rachele for the baptism of Alessandra's father. • • Embroidered on the dress is an M and the date 1927 in Roman numerals, as the years were indicated during the Fascist era. • • Among the relatives missing from the ceremony was the baby's great aunt Sophia Loren, who now lives in Los Angeles. • • The actress is the sister of Alessandra's mother. • • Any hopes the child might be allowed to forget its heritage were dashed when her mother declared that she plans to hang a poster of Benito Mussolini in the child's room. • • After the baptism the family visited the crypt where the dictator is buried. • • Mussolini may be gone, but his name at least, lives on. • • Find out more about AP Archive: http://www.aparchive.com/HowWeWork • Twitter: / ap_archive • Facebook: / aparchives • Instagram: / apnews • • • You can license this story through AP Archive: http://www.aparchive.com/metadata/you...
