The elaborate Very Merry Christmas Parade at Disneyland began with an overture of Disney tunes over the speakers, followed by the live trumpeters. The first half of the parade featured scenes from classic Disney movies, including Snow White and the Seven Dwarfs, Fantasia, Mary Poppins and others. The second half of the parade featured many of the elements in the current A Christmas Fantasy parade, including the snowmen, skating snowflakes, and of course Santa Claus and his reindeer for the finale. ~ Scott Wolf • A Christmas Fantasy Parade is an annual parade presented at Disneyland Park in the Disneyland Resort in Anaheim, CA. The parade is a holiday parade that runs (in recent years) from mid-November until the weekend after New Year's Day. It debuted during the 1995 Holiday Season, replacing the Very Merry Christmas Parade. The parade features several Christmas themed floats and a catchy soundtrack, along with favorite Disney characters such as Mickey, Minnie, Donald, Pluto, Goofy, Clarabelle Cow, Elsa, Anna, Olaf, Sheriff Woody, Buzz Lightyear, Belle, the Beast, Snow White and her Prince, Princess Aurora, Prince Phillip, Cinderella, Prince Charming, Ariel, Prince Eric, and the Babes in Toyland soldiers. Earlier versions of the parade included Scrooge McDuck, Roger Rabbit, Max Goof, Winnie the Pooh, Tigger, Eeyore, characters from Lilo Stitch, The Hunchback of Notre Dame, Mulan, Aladdin, and also young children. • Mickey's Nutcracker was a live stage show that was performed at the Videopolis Theater at Disneyland at Christmas in 1991. In 1992, a televised version was also shown on the Disney Channel. It was similar to (and may have provided inspiration to) the Mickey Mouse Works short The Nutcracker, which also featured a parodical take on the Nutcracker story starring Mickey and Minnie, complete with a narrator not shy about wanting to further the story whether or not it makes complete sense. • I.
