An better infotainment system and HD rear-view and surround-view cameras headline the upgrades, but the Lights and Brights package arriving as an option to the LT trim is a welcome improvement, too. Can these enhancements help make the Equinox a contender? • • First, under the hood, shoppers will have three engine options. A 1.5-liter turbocharged 4-cylinder offers 170 horsepower and 203 pound-feet of torque, paired with a 6-speed automatic transmission. Better still, a 2.0-liter turbocharged 4-cylinder offers 252 hp and 260 lb-ft through a 9-speed automatic. Unfortunately, the 2.0-liter turbocharged diesel engine fails to impress, despite its 240 lb-ft of torque. • • Inside, the Equinox serves up Apple CarPlay and Android Auto on its touchscreen, and the Sun Navigation package brings along a 120-volt outlet and an extra pair of USB ports (bringing the total to 3). • • The Equinox performs well in the NHTSA’s crash tests, as well as tests from the IIHS. However, advanced safety features like blind-spot monitoring aren’t available until shoppers pony up for at least an LT trim (and on the LT, they’re still only an option), and features like adaptive cruise control and automatic emergency braking with pedestrian detection aren’t standard at any level—they’re an option on the top two trims. • • For more information on the 2019 Chevy Equinox, read Mike’s full review on CarGurus: https://cargur.us/s_9Sr • Presenter: Mike Perkins • Cinematographer: Carl Nenzen Loven • Subscribe to the CarGurus Channel: • / cargurus • Check out our Test Drive Reviews playlist: • • 2018 Hyundai Sonata | CarGurus Test D... • Crossovers SUVs • • Crossovers and SUVs
