Dickson Chan plays Michael Dudman's setting of the 'Gloria' on the 1863 J. W. Walker Sons organ of St John's Anglican Cathedral, Parramatta. • • The Gloria is a type of hymn known as a 'doxology,' which is a short hymn of praise. It begins with the words the angels sang when the birth of Christ was announced to the shepherds (see Luke 2:14). • • Glory to God in the highest, • and peace to God's people on earth. • Lord God, heavenly King, • Almighty God and Father, • we worship you, • we give you thanks, • we praise you for your glory. • • Lord Jesus Christ, • only Son of God the Father, • Lord God, Lamb of God, • You take away the sin of the world: • have mercy on us; • You are seated at the right hand of the Father; • receive our prayer. • • For You alone are the Holy One, • You alone are the Lord, • You alone are the Most High, • Jesus Christ, • With the Holy Spirit, • In the glory of God the Father. • Amen. • • You can access the history and specification of the organ at: • https://www.ohta.org.au/confs/Sydney/... • • The recording was made on 17 June 2023.
