The structural test measures a window's ability to withstand air pressure, which is calculated in pounds per square foot. AAMA uses a table that converts pounds per square foot to wind speed. The window is tested with both positive and negative pressure, which simulates real-life conditions. As a built-in engineering safety margin, the test pressure used is 1.5 times its targeted design pressure. In order for the window to pass, it must maintain its structural integrity without breakage throughout the course of the test. When testing at the commercial window performance class and above, deflection limitations are also part of the test. • Founded in 1982, Viwinco Windows designs and manufactures custom-made windows and patio doors for new construction and replacement applications in the residential and commercial markets. Varied product lines are offered, including Viwinco's impact-resistant OceanView line. Styles include double-hung, single-hung, casement, fixed geometric and picture windows, and more. Production occurs in Viwinco's 140,000 square-foot manufacturing facility, which is home to the company's in-house laminating and tempered glass operation. Viwinco is headquartered in Morgantown, PA. • Visit our website for more information http://www.viwinco.com • • Be sure to SUBSCRIBE to our page to keep up with Viwinco updates, product knowledge and helpful how-to's regarding your windows and patio doors.
