http://www.gtc.edu • BECOMING A COSMETOLOGIST APPRENTICE • Search for a salon/shop that will sponsor (hire) you as an apprentice. • Once you have located a sponsor, contact the Gateway Apprenticeship Department or the Bureau of Apprenticeship Standards (BAS) Office for a Cosmetology apprenticeship application form. • Fill out the application with your sponsoring salon/shop. • Meet the Notary Republic requirements and mail completed form to the BAS with the $10 fee or drop off at the Apprenticeship office. • Contact the BAS and meet with a representative with your new sponsor. • You can start working at your sponsoring salon/shop upon the receipt of your Cosmetology Apprenticeship Permit. • Contact Gateway Apprenticeship Department if you have not received registration information two weeks prior to the beginning of classes. (Classes begin in August, September, October, January, February, and March.)
