Another clip from the utterly abysmal Babes in Toyland 1986 TV-movie. • This time it's the finale! The battle for Toyland! • I'm making that sound way cooler than it is. • Here, Barnaby's army of evil Christmas trees (that never sounds NOT stupid...) invades Toyland, and Toyland's resident toys, animals, nursery rhyme characters and possible furry sex-offenders fight back. • It's embarrassing. It's all really, really embarrassing. • But the muscle really comes in when Pat Morita's army of gun-toting toy soldiers arrive. I'd really like to see this sequence redone in a more violent, better-produced movie. Severed plastic and teddy-bear limbs everywhere. Christmas tree innards hanging from trees. A fully-grown man dressed as a detective-frog weeping in the streets over the corpse of Mother Goose. • But I digress. • If you really want something to watch for in this scene, at about the 6:35 mark you get to see Keanu Reeves punch the sh*t out of Barnaby. That's kind of cool. • Also, Barnaby's one-liner of Jack be nimble, Jack be DEAD... is kind of awesome. • Also at about the 7:10 mark, there's an odd, surreal spike in the pitch of Drew Barrymore's voice. I'm not sure if it's just my copy or if it's in the original print. Considering how utterly crappy this movie is, I wouldn't be surprised if it was in the original print. • And then Pat Morita sentences Barnaby to death by dismemberment at the hands of his disillusioned Christmas tree minions. Wow. Harsh, Pat. Kind of a dark bummer of a way to end this campy movie. • Babes in Toyland is © Orion Television. • Happy holidays from AwesomeDude898 to you.
