http://www.ctvvancouverisland.ca • / ctvvi • COLWOOD - A woman who killed a motorcyclist on the Trans Canada highway in Langford will serve just one day in jail. • Tracy Smith pleaded guilty to impaired driving causing death and has also been sentenced to a lengthy probation. • On Canada Day in 2011, Smith was drunk and high on cocaine when she swerved over the centre line and slammed into an oncoming motorcycle killing 47-year-old Jana Mahenthiren. • The court believes Tracy Smith today, is not the same person police found on the side of the road on the day of the offence. • Since her arrest Smith has remained in re-hab at the Vision Quest Recovery Society. • The judge ruled at the time of the offence, Smith had the mental capacity of a nine year old. • She will serve one day in jail, a 10-year driving ban, and three years probation, most of that time to be served at the Vision Quest centre. • Follow Stephen Andrew on Twitter: / ctvnewsstephen
