You had many suggestions and ideas on what wine glasses I should review next but I think most important for everyone is the best universal glass. To find the Ultimate Universal Glass, I will do a blind tasting of this selection and the worst performing glass will be destroyed. If you look back on the history of wine glasses you see some trends and evolution. The production of wine glasses as we know them with a base, a stem, and a bowl started in the 1400s in Venice. But these glasses did not look like today's wine glasses. They used to be much smaller and this is due to different factors. First of all, it was just not possible to create the thin, light, and clear big bowls that we are used to today. Secondly, there was a tax on Glasses based on their weight, and glassmakers, therefore, reduced the weight of a glass as much as they could.
