The date: • The in-game date is only accessible if you don't turn off the HUD. • With activated HUD, you'll have ship icons flying across the screen occasionally, also, the date has a background animation. • Thus, I've created a copy of my Stellaris/gfx/interface folder where I deleted files for: • Animation behind date (topbar) • Ship icons (icons) • Then, I've set up two sources in my OBS, one for the game, the other one is only showing the ingame date. • You can use OBS built-in filters to blend it in properly. • 2. Crashes: • Since the game is mostly running / recording without monitoring, it occasionally happens that either Stellaris or OBS crash. • Thus, it's essential having more than the last 5 autosave files. Thus, I recommend creating a small script that backups' the save game folder. • 3. (Mostly relevant for the next timelapse) The galaxy map has some 'clouds' spinning in the background. That rotation speed can be adjusted • in the Stellaris/common/defines/00_defines.txt (or equivalent file in the mod you're using) • 4. Counteracting the slow-down over time: • I've created a spreadsheet containing information about the recording parts to approximate the seconds it took to simulate an in-game year. • https://docs.google.com/spreadsheets/... • The resulting modifier has been applied in GoPro Studio. • Some of the parts in this timelapse have been sped up more if nothing is happening.
