In this video I show viewers how to do a generator engine break in for the Harbor Freight Predator 3500 inverter generator plus a “real world” noise level test. Which is the best generator for camping? I think it's the Predator 3500. Watch as i describe a proper engine break in and I show you the oil to prove it works, The manufacturer recommends an oil change post engine break-in at 100 hours. I show this oil change and filter the oil through a paper towel and video the oil for all to see. I also detailed an outline for our “generator break-in” ( 4:43 ) which I will describe below as well. • I did my sound samples at zero feet and 25 feet. I tested both at idle and with an 18 amp load. What a great value this generator is! At 25 with a load on the machine from cooking in the electric oven of the camper, the noise decibel reading was a surprising 59 db! The generator was then ran at both an idle and load for 2 hours and the oil was drained. After a quick refill the process was repeated for another 2 hours. • When the hour meter reached 8 hours another oil change with the additive occurred followed by a final change at 16 hours.
