Turning End Grain Wenge The Incredible Shrinking Dish

This week's video is a small Wenge dish that started almost twice a large. You can see more of my videos here: / @themessystudio . A friend sent me the blank. • I bought this piece at Rockler from their By-the-pound box. It had some very interesting grain structure so I went for it. What I didn't know is that it had hairline cracks in many places and all of them ran completely through it. Getting this to a round shape without chunks flying out proved to be especially difficult. • I finally reached somewhat of a successful turn, but the piece is still riddled with cracks. Oh well, live and learn. All in all, it is still a pretty little dish. It measures 4 1/4 at the widest, 1 3/4 tall, and the wall thickness is only 1/4 . It is finished Ack's Polish/Restoring Paste. It has a nice sheen, yet maintains that natural wood luster. • Thank you for watching. I'll have another turning out soon.
