The Apocalypse of Abraham (התגלות אברהם, hitgalut avraham) is an ancient Jewish apocalyptic text believed to have been written between 70 and 150 CE. The inscription on its forehead read: Bar-Eshet. Placing the chips on the fire to prepare my father’s meal, I positioned Bar-Eshet next to the growing flames. I sternly told him, Bar-Eshet, ensure the fire doesn’t extinguish before I return. If it starts to dwindle, blow on it to fan the flames. Upon returning, I found Bar-Eshet toppled over, his feet engulfed by the fire, burning vigorously. • Copyright © 2025 Peter Shir LLC. All rights reserved.
