Accepted for publication in Astrophysical Journal (ApJ) • Link to preprint version: https://arxiv.org/abs/2412.04815 • Paper Title: On Disk Formation Around Isolated Black Holes via Stream Accretion • Authors: Priyesh Kumar Tripathi, Dr. Indranil Chattopadhyay, and Dr. Raj Kishor Joshi • Aryabhatta Research Institute of Observational Sciences (ARIES) @AriesNainitalUttarakhand • The above movie shows the results of hydrodynamic simulations of wind accretion, where winds are not directed toward the black hole but flow past it. The color map shows the density profile of the simulation. A portion of the wind is gravitationally captured by the black hole (located at the center of the box) and forms a transient accretion disk. The winds have a Mach number of 0.5 and are composed of electron-proton fluid (referred to as Model-Mp5X1 in the paper). The disk temporarily breaks up, during which a shock cone is formed. This shock cone exhibits oscillatory behavior. Over time, the disk re-establishes itself.
