Discover the Tempting Delicacy of Slovenian Krhki Flancati

In Slovenia we love to celebrate Lent or as we call it Pust with sweet things. Not only are this so called: krhki flancati always a hit, they are gone in an instant they come out of the fryer. • 📜This recipe will make 2 bowls of angle wing cookies. • 🔹Ingredients:🔹 • 6 egg yolks • 2 tbsp powdered sugar • 350 g / 2 ¾ cups flour • 80 ml / ¼ cup dry white wine • 2 tbsp rum • pinch of salt • 2 tbsp sour cream • zest of 1 medium sized lemon • ½ tbp vanilla (optional) • vegetable oil for frying • powder sugar for dusting • 🔹Preparation:🔹 • 1. In a large bowl, combine 6 egg yolks with 2 tablespoons of powdered sugar. Start mixing slowly with a hand mixer until the sugar is incorporated. Beat the yolks and sugar for about a minute until pale and fluffy. • 2. Pour in 80ml of dry white wine, 2 tablespoons of rum, and give it a quick 20-second mix. • 3. Add a pinch of salt, 2 tablespoons of sour cream, and the zest of a whole lemon. Mix • 4. Gradually add your sifted flour into the mixture and mix until a dough forms. Transfer it to a floured surface and kneed for a few minutes. If the dough is to sticky, dust over a bit more flour. The dough should be soft and springy but not sticky. Place it into a floured bowl and let it rest for 30 to 45 minutes. • 5. Flour the surface and roll out the dough into a rectangle or square. Roll it out to a 2 mm thickness. Cut the dough into smaller rectangles. In the middle of each rectangle make 2 horizontal slits. • 6. Shape the rectangles: Grab one of your rectangles and gently spread it a bit. Now, take the bottom right corner and thread it through the left hole. Give it a little tug while holding onto the upper right corner • 7. Heat up your oil to 180°C. Fry the dough until they are golden brown. Once done transfer them to paper towels do remove extra oil and dust them generously with powdered sugar. • 8. Serve. • Tip: If by any chance you don't eat all, you can save them in air tight containers in layers with paper towels in between.
