Taylor 310 Dreadnought Sound Overview and Test

Playing around with the classic Taylor 310. • This one wandered in the other day and I wanted to spend some time with it, and record it as a frame of reference for some of the current Spruce/Sapele dreadnoughts being manufactured. Taylor seems one of the first companies to use Sapele as a tonewood, and now it seems like Martin and others have latched on to the tonewood on some of their models. • The thing I'll say about Taylor, which I say every time I'm able to spend time with one, is that they are extremely playable, and their consistency between individual guitars is quite astounding. It's not necessarily a sound I'm in love with, but they are just so well constructed and easy to play that it's hard to not appreciate Bob Taylor and company for what they've done for American guitar building and creating high quality instruments at a wide range of price points. • I have yet to own one myself, but that may change with time! • I don't get too spend a lot of time with Taylor Guitars, and don't know as much about them as I would like. This one has a Spruce top, Sapele back and sides, short 24 7/8 Scale, and satin finish back and sides with a gloss finish top.
