Here's how to remove the cylinder. • Here are the links that I reference in the video. • *EDIT* June 5, 2020. The very short bolt that holds the rod to the cylinder backed out on me today, luckily there wasn't any damage when lowering the roof. Make sure to use some blue thread locker on this bolt when reinstalling it! • Manual top operation. • • Mercedes-Benz SL - How to manually cl... • Removing the clevis to replace the seal • https://www.benzworld.org/threads/var... • Top Hydraulics • https://www.tophydraulics.com/r230-sl... • Cabriolet Hydraulics • https://cabriolethydraulics.com/ • German site for the seal • https://www.shop.mjprodukte.de/Dichts... • Search this term on ebay and this may possibly be the correct seal • 9mm ID x 16mm OD x 4mm • Part numbers • 2308000972 left driver cylinder • 2308001072 right passenger cylinder • A note on repairing the cylinder. If you can find the right O-ring size, instead of the cup type seal, you might be able to get that over the plunger to replace the seal without having to remove the clevis. I used the o-ring type seal on the front lock cylinder and it's be good for a few years now.
