For most of AOT the amount of titan shifters was a complete mystery. My personal theory as to why Isayama didn’t make any more is because the way the story was setup by the time they reached Grisha's basement, we already knew that Paradis didn’t have more shifters. So, by default any more titan shifters would’ve all been Marleyean warriors. Doing that would’ve made Marley way too overpowered especially during the battle in Liberio. • If there was a tenth shifter, I imagine it's skillset would be tied to the paths that connect all subjects of ymir. It would have a closer relationship to the coordinate than every titan except the founding tita itself. • Standing at fifteen metres tall I imagined the paths titan would be mostly covered in a thin protective shell of hardening, with it’s most distinctive feature being it’s mask. This mask would remain in place most of the time unless this shifter is about to scream. • Over the years we’ve seen that screaming can be used for different purposes and for the paths titan it would have two screams that would be its most important abilities. Its first scream would literally able to interrupt other people’s titan transformations, meaning their titans will end up being incomplete and the victim will just remain in their human form. Eren once mentioned how the flesh of a titan is sent via paths and this shifters scream can block that signal to make it so the titan body never reaches the destination. In this way the Paths can prevent both shifters and pure titans from manifesting but the scream has occur before they completely transform. If we use an easy example of how this could work in practice, let’s imagine the user of the paths titan was with these guys during the declaration of war. In that scenario it would not have been able to stop eren’s first transformation since it didn’t know he was about to transform And if it did scream it would’ve been way too late. What it could do though is prevent Eren from transforming a 2nd or 3rd time which is what he did in the main series and by doing this the attack titan would at best only partially manifest. • A royal blooded founder is the only shifter who would be unaffected by this ability, but for everyone else including royals like zeke, there’s nothing they can do to get around this. • Moving on to the paths titans 2nd scream this one would be a twist on the ability to create pure titans, as it has a big benefit but also big costs at the same time. The benefit is that any eldian within range of the scream can be turned into a pure titan without the first need to consume spinal fluid. • Other abilities of this shifter include the power to summon one eldian to the paths dimension, regardless of where that person might be in the real world. • On top of this, despite having a special relationship with the coordinate the paths Titan is not able to manipulate memories but rather it’s forced to see the memories of every pure titan it touches. I consider this to be more of a curse than a blessing, as by making physical contact with them / the paths titan has no choice but to see flashes of what their life used to be. • In summary, the paths titan has two distinct screams, one which can prevent the transformation of others titans and another that creates titans without the need for spinal fluid injections. If the user doesn’t have royal blood then doing that 2nd scream is BAD but if they're royal blooded then they can create a titan army. Once a day this shifter can also summon an eldian to paths dimension. • #attackontitan #aot
