The St Croix Panfish Series Ultralight Rod is one of the most popular ultralight sticks out there! I have had tons of recommendations to pick this thing up over the years so I finally did it. It is definitely a nice rod and feels comfortable in the hand. That being said, I can't say it is exactly what I am personally looking for. It is a bit tip-heavy for my liking and it also has a little more whip to the tip than I would prefer. Ultimately, we have to remember that personal preference is a huge part of gear selection so that doesn't mean this is a bad rod - it is simply not what I prefer. • I do, however, think this will be an excellent crappie stick. I plan to fish crappie with it in the future and put it to the test. Because they have paper mouths , the softer tip on this rod may allow for a harder hookset without ripping the jig free from their mouth.
