Serotonin syndrome is a medical emergency resulting from an excess of serotonin in the central nervous system. It typically occurs after the use of certain medications, particularly antidepressants, or drug interactions that increase serotonin levels such as ecstasy. • Symptoms range from mild (shivering and diarrhea) to severe (muscle rigidity, fever, seizures, and confusion) and can develop rapidly.
