Hello Everyone Welcome To Engineer’s Academy • In this video we will learn, what is the Difference between the thermoplastic Thermosetting Plastics. • 1. Thermosetting can not be recycled. • Thermoplastic can be recycled. • 2. Thermoplastic materials have low melting points while thermoset plastic products can withstand high temperatures without losing austerity. • 3. Thermoplastic can be synthesized by the process called addition polymerization. • Thermosetting plastics are synthesized by condensation polymerization. • 4. Thermo plastics: • 2 Dimensional with no crosslinks. • Thermosetting plastics: • 3 Dimensional with multiple crosslinks. • 5. Typical examples of thermosetting plastics are Phenolic resins, Amino resins and Epoxy resins. • Acrylic, Acrylonitrile Butadiene Styrene, Nylon, Polybenzimidazole, Polycarbonate, Polypropylene, Polystyrene, Teflon, Polyvinyl Chloride, etc. are several examples of thermoplastic materials. • • 6. Thermoplastics are generally more expensive than thermoset. • 7. Thermoplastics have low tensile strength. • Thermosetting plastics have high tensile strength. • 8. Thermo plastics: • Mostly processed by conventional methods such as injection molding, extrusion and blow molding. • Thermosetting plastics: • Mostly processed by special methods such as compression, transfer and casting. • 9. Thermoplastic is lower in molecular weight, compared to thermosetting plastic. • 10. Thermoset plastics are often used for sealed products due to their resistance to deformation. • Thermoplastics can serve low-stress applications such as plastic bags or high-stress mechanical parts. • 11. Thermoplastics have secondary bonds between molecular chains. • Thermosetting plastics have primary bonds between molecular chains. • 12. Thermo plastics can be melted. • Thermosetting plastics cannot be melted. • 13. Stiffness: • Thermoplastic • Low • Thermosetting Plastic: • High • 14. Brittleness: • Thermoplastic • Low • Thermosetting Plastic: • High • 15. Durability: • Thermoplastic • Low • Thermosetting Plastic: • High • 16. Rigidity: • Thermoplastic • Low • Thermosetting Plastic: • High • Also check the Below Videos, • The Process of Welding: • Welding Process It's Types ||Engine... • The Process of Gas welding: • Gas welding Process. ||Engineer's Aca... • The Process of ARC Welding: • Arc Welding Process It's Types ||En... • Types of Flames Used in Welding: • What are the Types of flames???
