Kay Yasugi is a maker, puppeteer and teacher. She uses her puppets to lift people's spirits, teach children values and tell remarkable stories! • Kay showcases some of the puppets she has made over the years, including marionettes, rod puppets and glove puppets. She is joined by her mother Youngkyu Kwon (and their dog Louie!) as she also talks about their show Haenyeo: Women of the Sea - A story about passing down traditions, based on Haenyeo (women divers from Jeju Island, Korea). Told by a mother and daughter in an interactive, intimate and immersive theatre experience with Korean music, puppetry and crochet. • The show was partly funded by a grant from the Seaborn, Broughton and Walford Foundation and premiered at the International Figura Offida Festival in Offida, Italy in 2019. • https://www.pupperoos.com/haenyeo-wom... • All the puppets in the video were created by Kay Yasugi (Pupperoos) except the Nanna (old lady) puppet made by M. Cecilia Ciruzzi in Argentina, and Rocky the Raccoon made by Folkmanis Puppets. • This video was created by Annemarie Terblanche in 2020 for her Facebook series, 'Earthling Stories' - tiny tales of human moments - absurd, outlandish, everyday, spooky, cozy, intimate, and vast. Brought to you by one woman, one camera, and infinite curiosity. • Facebook: @earthlingstories • / earthlingstories • Instagram: @earthlingstoriesvideos / earthlingstoriesvideos • • For more info about Pupperoos please visit • https://www.pupperoos.com/ • Facebook @Pupperoos • / pupperoos • Instagram @kay_yasugi • / kay_yasugi
