Paracas National Reserve is a protected area of the Peru coastline that protects a plethora of incredible birds and wildlife. • Exploring Paracas National Reserve and the nearby Ballestas Islands gives visitors a chance to experience what has been referred to as the poor man's Galapagos Islands due to the easy access and budget-friendly experience that is paired with the amazing wildlife viewing experiences. • A boat tour through the reserve offers views of the 2,000-year-old El Candelabro geoglyph. A mysterious and massive pictograph similar to the Nazca lines in Peru that have been named a UNESCO World Heritage Site. • We visited Paracas on our second day in Peru. Our visit included a stop in Pisco to sip on some delicious Pisco Sours. • Paracas National Reserve is an area protecting Peru's coastal marine ecosystem and Paracas desert. The nearby Ballestas Islands are rich in rock formations and marine life. On the way to the islands is the mysterious prehistoric geoglyph El Candelabro, created probably 2000 years ago.
