This was the group's first performance in their hometown of NYC. The audience consisted of a multitude of family and friends in addition to the enthusiastic fans who treated the group as one of their own. It created an informal atmosphere that was more akin to having a bunch of folks over to the house for a private party as opposed to a concert at a high-profile club. • Most often in shows you have everything preplanned: set, choreography, routines even the moment when a performer talks and what is said to the audience is highly orchestrated. In this show, there was no 4th wall sort of to speak. The music was tight but the show was loose. The interchange between the performers and the people was casual. You could have exchanged recipes for making Gumbo or asked for the name of the first chord on the bridge. • We were able to obtain this video from a supporter that manages to record the show with a handheld camera. The live concert footage is not of professional quality by any means but it does provide a window to the goodness of that enchanted evening. • Unfortunately, this does not capture the entire goodness of the evening. There was a 15-piece band but due to the shooting angle mainly just the front stage performers are seen. It however does wonderfully serve a musical anthropological and documentary purpose especially since the group did not perform live very often. So we hope you at least appreciate the clip from that perspective. • --------------------------------- • LA BANDA: • Stony Browder, Jr. [Piano] • August Darnell [Bass] • Cory Daye [Lead vocal] • Mickey Sevilla [Drums] • Sugarcoated Andy Hernandez [Vibes] • ___________________________________ • Special Thanks: Susandra Minsky, John Stavros and John Rynski • ___________________________________ • Side Bar: August Darnell as Kid Creole and Sugarcoated Andy as Coati Mundi went on to form the group Kid Creole and The Coconuts. • _________________________________ • RIP: Stony Browder, Jr. • ------------------------------------------------------------------------ • Grande Grazie Mucho Merci Danke Very Much
