Let your hope rest in Allah alone. • While everyone trusts in something; let Allah be your trust. • No sin is greater than Allah’s mercy, • But still, strive not to sin. • Lâ tahzen! (Do not be sad!) • Whatever your sorrow may be, take an ablution, like a breath! • And lay a prayer rug in a corner of your room, sit and cry, say nothing if you wish... • He knows you and your sorrows better than you do, never forget that. • When you pray, raise your hands to Him with a broken heart. • For Allah’s mercy and grace soar towards the one with a wounded heart. • When a stick strikes a carpet, it is not to beat it but to remove the dust. • Why grieve, O soul, if Allah is merely removing your dust!? • Lâ tahzen! (Do not be sad!) • If something doesn’t happen, it’s either because something better will • Or it’s truly not meant to be. • Look at those birds in flight! They neither sow nor reap... • The One who guarantees their sustenance; do you think He would neglect you? • All you need to know is how to ask! • Calamities rain down like a heavy storm. • But only those who raise their heads to it earn the mark of love. • On the path of trial, the lover is on a unique journey. • No matter from where sorrow’s caravan arrives, • The one who bears the love of the beloved is not worried about their head. • Creation happens in demolition; wholeness is in dispersal; • Repair lies in breaking; purpose in purposelessness; existence in non-existence is hidden. • How painful it is to be caught between the mind and the heart. • How painful when time feels both close as a moment and far as a century. • And do you know what’s more heartbreaking? To know yet not be able to express it... • To say “I” and fall silent... To say “You” and hold back tears... • If you walk on the path of Truth, they open and ease your way. • If you lose yourself in the presence of Truth, they bring you back to true existence. • If you break free from the self, you grow so vast you can’t fit into the world. • Then, they’ll reveal you to yourself without yourself. • Another name for love is patience: • You endure hunger, and it’s called “fasting.” • You endure pain, and it’s called “fortitude.” • You endure people, and it’s called “tolerance.” • You endure your wishes, and it’s called “prayer.” • You endure your emotions, and it’s called “tears.” • You endure longing, and it’s called “yearning.” • You endure love, and it’s called “passion”! • Whatever I wish, I ask from my Lord. • If He grants it, it’s His grace. If He withholds it, it’s my test! • If you ask Allah for something: The door opens, as long as you know how to knock! • I cannot tell you when, but don’t lose hope that it won’t open, • Just know how to stay at that door! • Mevlana Celaleddin Rumi • May mercy be upon you.
