The story behind My Cuba: • Joseph Verrusio wrote My Cuba as a tribute to his Cuban Mother-In-Law, Aida. He was moved by the situation that led up to her and her family leaving their native land. He knew how difficult and heart breaking it was for them to leave everything behind. They left family, friends, home and country, never to see them again. It also made Joe aware of the freedoms that he has and to never take them for granted. In search of the freedoms that had been taken away from them in Cuba, they arrived in this country with only the clothes on their backs. They started a new life in a new country giving their family a chance to live in a free society. • I dedicate My Cuba to my wife Ana and to her family. I wrote the song imagining them • reminiscing about the country they love and longing for the warm breezes, sea air and the faces of the family that they left behind. • My Cuba is also a special thank you to my mother in law, Aida Batista, who always supported my love of music.” • This video was the fourth in a series that we called Pandemic Videos. We began making the videos in the Summer of 2020 when we realized that Covid-19 would be sticking around longer than expected.
