Schroeder-Sheker works as a music-thanatologist, where the practitioner works with those who are actively dying or have received a terminal diagnosis with a life expectancy of less than six months. The goals of music-thanatology include reduction of physical as well as emotional pain, creation of a supportive environment while dying, helping the patient become more conscious of their own death process. • “The history of medieval harp runs a gamut from mysticism and mythology to fiercely guarded oral tradition and minutely detailed chronicles and diaries from that epoch. In substance and symbol, this instrument remained a living tradition for members of religious communities, minstrels, monarchs and bards, although this aspect of musicology is only now emerging through vigorous new scholarship. • This album reflects many threads of music which would have been heard by the medieval pilgrim, travelling one of several esteemed routes in search of Mary, a miraculous cure, or the path of prayer. This pilgrim might only have wandered as far as the next village to a holy well, a sacred spring, or the dwelling of a hermit or an anchorite, but frequently one walked across whole countries. • The material of this album is Italian, English, Irish, Spanish, Catalan, Sephardic, Hebridean, French, German, and newly composed. They are laments, lullabies, prayers, and love songs, each remembering a chapter from the ultimate pilgrimage, a soul’s quest in search of love and destiny.” • TRACKLIST: • A1 Planctus Pellegrin 0:00 • A2 Credo Of Ballymacoda 5:50 • A3 Gaude Virgo 9:51 • A4 Assumpta Est Maria In Coelum 11:11 • A5 Veni Sancte Spiritus 14:53 • A6 Is Milde Lomb 17:36 • A7 Two Villancicos 20:37 • A8 Choose Me 21:51 • B1 Amor Con Fortuna 25:03 • B2 Je Muir, Je Muir 32:39 • B3 Ah Robyn, Gentle Robyn 34:03 • B4 Beata Viscera 36:13 • B5 Domino 43:08 • B6 Sedona 45:16
