2004 MINI Cooper S R53 6spd Manual Transmission Fluid Replacement

In this video, I changed the transmission fluid on a 2004 MINI Cooper S R53 with the 6 speed Getrag MT285/GS6-85 manual transmission/transaxle. • Time required: approx. 30-45mins • Tools required: drain pan, 8mm hex socket, ratchet, fluid pump • Fluid used: 2 quarts Redline MTL https://www.amazon.com/Red-Line-Trans... • Pump used: https://amzn.com/B000BQW5LK • Notes: Original fill on 2002-2004 6spd manual transmissions is Texaco MTF-94. On late 2004-2006 models w/o limited slip differential, BMW MTF-LT3. Late 2004-2006 models w/ limited slip are filled with MTF-94. I have not heard any reports where Redline MTL harmed any first gen MINI R53 transmissions. In this case, shifting became much smoother and the difference was very noticeable especially in cold weather.
