The collimator images the fiber’s output onto a screen and the focal length is then varied through the entire range (18 mm to 6 mm) and back. The focus plane remains constant, always producing a sharp image of the multimode fiber, throughout this adjustment. The collimator displays excellent off-axis image performance for large multimode fiber cores, showing all 7 fiber cores in sharp, distinguishable focus.
