In this video, I make a delicious slow cooker split pea and ham soup. This soup is an absolute classic and hits all those hearty flavors that are expected when you go to taste this delicious meal. • Recipe: https://slowcookingperfected.com/slow... • Support us: https://go.slowcookingperfected.com/M... • I love having this soup with some freshly baked bread on the side. It’s great as you can use the bread to soak up all the soup, so you leave nothing behind. The soup is also perfect just by itself so don’t feel that you need to make anything extra. • I blitz the soup in the video, but you don’t need to. I find the soup is most enjoyable blitzed, as it is nice and smooth. I like leaving the ham shredded, but you can also blitz this as well. • All the ingredients that you will need for this soup can be found right below. The list is perfect if you need to go shopping. • 600g (1.3 lb) ham hock • 1 onion, diced • 2 tsp garlic, crushed • 2 carrots, diced • 2 cups green split peas • 1 bay leaf • 2 Tbsp. sherry • 1 l (33 fl oz) water • 1 l (33 fl oz) chicken stock • There are a few adjustments that you can make to this recipe. For example, you can leave the sherry out, or you can swap it for a different sweet wine. You can also use 2 liters (66 fl oz) of chicken stock, but it might get a little salty. • In the video, I remove the scum that has formed on top of the liquid. You can leave this, but I highly recommend that you remove it. You will get a cleaner, better tasting soup by taking the time to skim it off the top. • I absolutely love this slow cooker split pea and ham soup, and I hope that you do too.
