This exercise helps to teach how to bring your arm across your body without loosing dimension in your rib cage. It helps to strengthen your pectorals and biceps with a balance of stability coming from the posterior chain of your shoulder. The ability to perform this action is critical for rock climbing, rowing, tennis, golf and other sports requiring powerful use of the upper extremity.
