Hotel Review: Dorint Potsdam Sanssouci, Potsdam, Brandenburg, Germany - October 2018. • The Dorint Potsdam Sanssouci is located in the very picturesque city of Potsdam in the state of Brandenburg, Germany. I stayed there for three nights on a room only basis in October 2018, this cost £250. Unfortunately due to engineering work at the hotel, the electricity for the entire building was being switched off on our last night, meaning we would have had no electricity, elevators, lighting or wifi. The reception even gave us a torch to use on the last night! We complained about this as it is less than expectations for a fairly expensive business hotel such as this one, and we were subsequently moved for our last night to the NH Hotel, which I have reviewed separately. • Despite the problem with the last night and having to change hotels, I will say that I liked this hotel very much. It is not convenient for the tram to the main railway station, but it is well located for walking to Sanssouci park, which is the main attraction here, and is simply stunning, I very much recommend it. The hotel is a 7-10 minute walk to the nearest tram stop at Reiterweg/Alleestrasse and is a 10 minute walk from the Jägertor, which is one of Potsdam's gate arches. Around that area are a number of nice bars and restaurants, including two very good Indian restaurants and an excellent Irish pub. • The hotel is very much geared up for business events and conferences, it wasn't a 'warm' or 'boutique' venue, but it was very smart and executive in appearance. The bedroom was OK, although it was a little dated decor-wise. • The hotel had an excellent swimming pool, which I liked very much and made good use of. • When we were moved to the NH hotel, the duty manager included for us a free taxi to the NH and a free breakfast at the NH for the inconvenience.
