How to replace a Moen Shower cartridge Easy Beginners Guide

This video is for Home owners, Do it yourselfers, Handymen and anybody who doesnt have experience changing out these cartridges, This video will make your cartridge replacement a breeze! I have been a service and repair plumber for 20 years, my father before me was a service and repair plumber, my cousins and Uncle are all plumbers. Ive been doing this since I was a kid and I have alot of tips and tricks to share with you! • This cartridge is the Moen 1225 the 1225 and the 1225b are the exact same cartridge the B just means you bought it at a big box store. Moen lifetime warranties their fixtures and so you can likely get Moen to provide you a new cartridge free of charge! No proof of purchase necessary, theyll ask you to send them a picture of the shower in your bathroom and they will send out the exact part you need! Thankfully Moen does not have a big laundry list of parts like most of their competitors do. Moen only has the Moen 1225 style and the Moen 1222 Posi temp style cartridge, They also make a solid brass version of the 1225 which is called the 1200 but it can be used in place of the plastic 1225 cartridges. I will advise though if your current cartridge is all brass you will want to replace it with another all brass cartridge, I have found though you can replace a 1225 with a 1200 if need be there are some circumstances where the 1200 needs to be replaced by another 1200 or it will allow a slow leak even with a new cartridge. • I really hope this video was of some help to you, I love Moen when it comes to shower valves Moen is the company i recommend to all of my customers and I believe Moen makes a very quality valve at a very affordable price with one of the largest variety of shower trim and colors.
