How to Catch a Skunk

This video is an instructional guide on how to catch and release a skunk into the wilderness. I've had a recent skunk infestation in my area that all the neighbors have been complaining about. I decided to address the skunk issue by proactively capturing and relocating the skunks. • In the region of the country I live, swamp coolers are utilized for air conditioning. When a skunk sprays during the hot summer season, the smell gets circulated into the swamp cooler causing a very unpleasant sleeping experience. We have also had pets sprayed by skunks and it requires numerous washing methods to neutralize the stinky smell. • During my trapping endeavors, I've only gotten sprayed once on my arms. It was the only day I decided not to wear a long sleeve because it was hot and I was sorta in a rush to transport the skunk. During this spraying incident, the odorous skunk spray somehow traveled over the top of the tarp and got on my arms. Before I knew it, I had gross looking yellow oily skunk spray on my arms and shirt. I immediately tried to neutralize the stink with ketchup (I heard somewhere that tomato sauce or ketchup does a good job at this). I smelled like stinky ketchup for the rest of the day but it seemed to work for the most part. • In my experiences of trapping skunks, none were hurt (that I know of) by the spring action trap used in this instructional. I've decided to document and create this reference video for people to use if they ever encounter the same situation with the skunk infestation I have.
