On first glance you notice the rotating segments, but, once you relax your vision, beautiful shapes start to emerge and continue to evolve and develop. • “Kaleidoscope” is my attempt to write a musical analogue for this. It opens with rotating pianistic figuration (treble and bass parts moving contrariwise) before long melodic arcs emerge from the texture. Though not the same sound world as Debussy and Ravel, this is the closest I’ve come to writing something Impressionist. • My thanks go to Ken Meyering for his assistance and exceptional work.
