Today let’s dive into the history of the USS Haraden (DD-183), a Wickes-class destroyer named after Jonathan Haraden. Commissioned on June 7, 1919, Haraden served in the Adriatic Sea and the Caribbean before being decommissioned in 1922. Recommissioned in 1939, she was transferred to the Royal Canadian Navy as HMCS Columbia. Haraden was involved in convoy duties and anti-submarine patrols until a cliff collision in 1944 led to her being used as a fuel hulk before scrapping.
