Welcome to Stardew Valley Kitchen! Join me, Stephan, as I prepare a new dish each week inspired by a recipe available in the game. This week we make smashed potatoes, inspired by the hashbrown receipe. You can learn the hahsbrown recipe in the game from the cooking channel on the 14th of Spring on even-numbered years. • If you enjoy the content please Subscribe! - https://goo.gl/ityEJA • This recipe for smashed potatoes is adapted from a recipe from the Palace Diner in Biddeford, ME, which is no more than 45 minutes away from my home. Ingredients are: • Small red potatoes, scrubbed • Salt • Thyme • 1 Bay Leaf • Black pepper • A pinch of crushed red pepper • Directions: • 1. Place potatoes in a large Dutch oven and cover with 1” cold water. Add salt, herbs, and spices and bring to a boil. • 2. Reduce heat to medium-low and simmer until potatoes are just fork-tender, 12 to 15 minutes. Drain, let cool slightly, then refrigerate until completely cool, about 1 hour. • 3. Instead of frying I’m going to bake these in a 500 degree oven • 4. Flatten the potatoes with the palm of your hand until they are about ¾” thick (edges will look cracked) • 5. Place the potatoes on a sheet and evenly coat with oil and roast until golden brown, 20 to 30 minutes. • Welcome to my channel, Stephan Plays.
