The overseas regions administratively consist of only one department each and hence also have the status of overseas departments . • Most administrative regions also have the status of regional territorial collectivities , which comes with a local government, with departmental and communal collectivities below the region level. The exceptions are Corsica, the French Guiana, Mayotte, and Martinique, where the region and department functions are managed by single local governments having consolidated jurisdiction, and which are known as single territorial collectivities . • 1982–2015 • The term région was officially created by the Law of Decentralisation (2 March 1982), which also gave regions their legal status. The first direct elections for regional representatives took place on 16 March 1986. • Reform and mergers of regions • In 2014, the French parliament passed a law reducing the number of metropolitan regions from 22 to 13 effective 1 January 2016. • The law gave interim names for most of the new regions by combining the names of the former regions, e.g. the region composed of Aquitaine, Poitou-Charentes and Limousin were temporarily called Aquitaine-Limousin-Poitou-Charentes. However, the combined region of Upper and Lower Normandy is simply called Normandy (Normandie). Permanent names were proposed by the new regional councils by 1 July 2016 and new names confirmed by the Conseil d'État by 30 September 2016. The legislation defining the new regions also allowed the Centre region to officially change its name to Centre-Val de Loire with effect from January 2015 • The 13 regions of metropolitan France (since 2016) • For new regions formed by the merging of two or three old regions, links lead to the constituent areas, i.e. the former regions. • Auvergne - Rhône-Alpes • Bretagne (Brittany) • Bourgogne - Franche-Comté • Corse (Corsica) • Centre - Val de Loire • Grand Est (Alsace, Champagne, Lorraine) • Hauts de France ( Nord Pas-de-Calais - Picardie) • Ile de France (Paris) • Nouvelle Aquitaine (Aquitaine, Poitou-Charentes, Limousin) • Normandie • Occitanie (Midi-Pyrénées, Languedoc) • Pays de la Loire • Provence - Cote d'Azu • This is a chronological list of capitals of France:- • Tournai (before 486) • Soissons (486-ca. 900) • Paris (900-1419) The residence of the kings of France, but they were consecrated at Reims. • Orléans (1108) One of the few consecrations of a French monarch to occur outside of Reims occurred at Orléans, when Louis VI the Fat Was consecrated in Orléans Cathedral by Daimbert, archbishop of Sens and from 13 December 1560 to 31 January 1561, the French States-General met here. • Troyes (1419–1422) For a short time during the Hundred Years' War, the town was the seat of the royal government. • Paris (1661-1682) Paris is the official capital, but Louis XIV disputed that Versailles will be the political center. • Versailles (1682–1715) In 1682, Louis XIV made Versailles his residence. • Paris (1715–1722) • Catrack KTV Channel is an online fun learning educational platform, dedicated to nurturing young minds into young intellectuals. • So let's enjoy this fun learning journey with Popular and Latest Videos. • @catrack ktv • Learn more from new animated educational videos. • For Latest Updates Subscribe to our channel for regular updates: https://goo.gl/1c6ulo #catrackkids #kidsvideos #funlearning #learneasily #easylearning #videosforkids #trending #viralvideos
