This is referred to as angina. While angina itself is not a condition, it is the primary symptom of Coronary Heart Disease (CHD) which is one of the leading causes of death in the world. It's a disease that results in a blockage of the coronary arteries and is usually caused by plaque build-up which is referred to as atherosclerosis. This reduces the flow of oxygen-rich blood to the heart which has dangerous effects on the cardiovascular system. If left untreated, unstable angina can result in a stroke or myocardial infarction (heart attack). • ➡️ During an episode of angina, a patient may also experience: • Dyspnea • Shortness of breath • Anxiety • Dizziness • Fatigue • Diaphoresis • Pain or discomfort in the arms or shoulders • ➡️ Risk Factors for Angina: • High blood pressure • High blood cholesterol levels • Smoking tobacco • Obesity • Diabetes mellitus • Physical inactivity • Eating an unhealthy diet • Drinking too much alcohol • Increased levels of stress • ➡️ When angina is present, for further assessment, the following tests are recommended: • Electrocardiogram • Chest x-ray • CT scan • Echocardiogram • Exercise stress test • Cardiac catheterization • Coronary angiography • ➡️ Some of the treatment methods for angina and cardiac conditions include: • Quit smoking tobacco • Stop or reduce alcohol consumption • Participate in regular exercise and physical activity • Keep your body weight at a healthy level • Eat a healthy diet that is low in fat and sodium • Balloon angioplasty • Coronary artery bypass graft surgery • Enhanced external counterpulsation • 🟦 The Video is for Informational Purposes Only • Again, for this video, we just wanted to provide you with a brief overview of this topic.
