This represents one of the cruellest atrocities committed against humanity. These barbarities were hidden under the image of anti-slavery, philanthropic and humanitarian which King Leopold II showed to the rest of the world. This fact permitted the exploitation of The Congo without any considerations and just for his own benefit. • This image that was given, prevailed in the whole world until the reaction of certain figures such as George Washington Williams, Edmund Dene Morel and Roger Casement, among others. These personalities gave visibility on an international level.
