Black and White is a performance that captures some of the most famous faces of the golden age of Arabic cinema, and their most famous songs from their films. This concert was first performed as part of the Festival of Arabic Music and Arts (FAMA 2021) at Hammerson Hall in Mississauga on Friday, November 19, 2021. • Known as the Star of the East, Oum Kalthoum’s voice has gained acclaim across the world and across different musical cultures and genres for its power, uniqueness, and stamina. Originally a girl from a small village in rural Egypt, Oum Kalthoum quickly rose to stardom once her voice was discovered, and her early career involved several successful movies that were defined by the songs she had performed.
