The 2019 Mercedes-Benz A-Class proves that you don’t need to cut corners or sacrifice luxury to enjoy an entry-level luxury car. Shoppers looking for a fancy car in the $30,000 range used to default to the BMW 2 Series and Audi A3, as the Mercedes-Benz CLA-Class compromised on too many details to compare favorably with those legitimate luxury options. Although this set up is expected to return 24 mpg city, 35 highway, and 28 combined, per the EPA, our test driver discovered that an enthusiastic driving style can drop the combined figure down into the high teens. • • The A-Class’s interior stands out favorably amid other entry-level luxury sedans. The trunk, however, offers a very limiting 8.6 cubic feet of storage space. On the other hand, the A-Class delivers enough cutting-edge technology to keep your attention.
