The Anguil catalytic oxidizer destroys organic vapor contaminants that are discharged from a wide variety of industrial processes. During operation, toxic-laden air is drawn into the system fan and discharged into the heat exchanger. The air passes through the tube side of the heat exchanger and into the burner, where the contaminated air is raised to the oxidizing temperature. When the VOC-laden air passes through the catalyst, an exothermic reaction takes place. The contaminents in the air stream are converted to carbon dioxide and water vapor. • • The hot, purified air then passes on the shell side of the heat exchanger where the energy released by the reaction is used to preheat the incoming air. This minimizes the systems fuel costs; in many cases the oxidizer is self-sustaining.
